Cake

As promised, here’s a snapshot of the book launch cake.  The story goes that once upon a time, when the good folk from Blackwell’s went to the cakemaker, she at first refused to write the title of the book on the cake.  ‘You mean glass seat?’ she insisted.  With great difficulty they persuaded her that they did indeed mean feet.  I picture her icing the word with an enormous amount of suspicion, then phoning security and asking who let the crazy ones into the cake shop.

That little anecdote from the booksellers is, I think, a perfect little synopsis of the difficulty that can be had in trying to explain the premise of a book like this.

It should also be noted that the cake tasted fantastic.
